How it works
AptResume helps you build a clean, recruiter-ready resume in minutes. It is free, with no account and no watermark. Here is the whole flow.
1. Pick your industry and role
Choose your field and job title, like Healthcare → Registered Nurse or Technology → Software Engineer. Your resume starts pre-filled with a summary prompt, suggested skills, and example bullets written for that role. Don't see your exact title? Start from a blank resume and you will still get a clean, recruiter-ready result.
2. Edit with guidance
Fill in your details. Role-specific prompts show you what belongs in each section, suggested skills drop in with one click, and example bullets give you a starting point you can rewrite in your own words. A built-in resume-scanner check nudges you toward the things that matter most, including a dedicated skills section and quantified results.
3. Optional: decode a posting or practice a skill
Paste a job posting into Decode or into the editor rail to see must-haves, nice-to-haves, jargon in plain language, and skills that are not yet on your open resume. Match a job description checks which of this role's keywords appear in the posting and in your resume. Browse skill videos by role when you want a short practice clip. These tools run in your browser with rules and curated content. They do not rewrite your resume for you.
4. Download free
Export a clean PDF built to pass applicant tracking systems. It is free, watermark-free, and needs no account or email. Want to keep editing later? Download a save file, a small file that holds your resume data so you can pick up where you left off on any device.
Frequently asked questions
Is it really free? Yes. Building and downloading your resume is free, with no watermark and no account. AptResume is supported by tasteful ads and optional Ko-fi contributions. There is never a paywall.
Do I need to create an account? No. There is no sign-up. You can build and download a resume without giving us anything.
Will it pass applicant tracking systems? Templates are single-column with standard headings, web-safe fonts, and a dedicated skills section, and the PDF exports as real text. That is the format resume-screening software reads most reliably.
Does AptResume use AI? No. AptResume does not run your resume through AI or send your content to any AI service. You write every word yourself, starting from role-specific prompts and example bullets you edit in your own words. Decode and keyword match use on-device rules and curated lists. Skill videos open on YouTube when you choose them. Your resume is built and stored on your device, not fed to a model. We would rather help you sound like you than hand you generic, machine-written text a recruiter can spot.
Where is my data stored? On your device. Your resume auto-saves in your browser. Job postings you paste for decode or keyword match stay in that browser session and are not uploaded. The only way resume data leaves your device is if you choose to download a save file or a PDF, or if you open a skill video on YouTube. We don't store your resume on our servers, and we don't sell your data.
How do I keep editing later? Download a save file when you're done. Next time, load that file to restore your resume and keep editing. Your browser also remembers your latest work on the same device.
Can I move my resume to another computer? Yes. Download a save file on one device and load it on another.
